Tyler Loftin

Tyler Loftin is a Liberty University and USC graduate with a bachelors in Music performance with a percussion specialization and a Masters degree in Percussion Performance. ​

Daniel Davis

Daniel Davis is 24 years old and now lives with his wife in Madison Heights,Va just outside of Lynchburg. Daniel Davis started his marching percussion career in 7th grade marching the outdoor lines for Strasburg High School in Strasburg, Va. His junior and senior year he marched in the indoor percussion ensemble for his rival high school, Central High School. In 2005-2006 Daniel marched with the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band and in 2008 Daniel was a member of the inaugural U.S. Army All American Marching Band.

 

Daniel was a member of the Liberty University drumline from 2008-2011 and was the section leader in 2010 and 2011. Daniel studied Music performance and graphic design at Liberty. While at LU, Daniel was one of the founding member of the indoor drumline program at LU. Since then Daniel has teched the indoor lines at Liberty. Daniel is and avid drumset player and is constantly playing in the area filling in for bands and working as a studio percussionist in the recording studio he owns and maintains.

Ryan Jones

Ryan Jones is from Richmond, VA and started playing drums and percussion in 2002. His first experience with marching performance was with Godwin High School where he performed in the marching band and indoor percussion ensemble every season from the fall of 2005 to the spring of 2009. In that time the percussion section was highly-acclaimed in Virginia and won numerous awards including a Scholastic Open Class Silver Medal in the Atlantic Indoor Association Circuit in 2008.

 

From there, Ryan went on to perform with the Liberty University Marching Band from 2009 to 2012, serving as Section Leader in 2012. Also in that time, Ryan performed with George Mason University’s indoor percussion ensemble in 2011 and 2012 winning an Independent Open Class Gold Medal at Winter Guard International’s World Championships in 2012. He finished his marching years serving as the Section Leader for Liberty University Indoor Drumline in 2013 where the group was an Independent A Finalist in its first trip to WGI Championships and second year as an ensemble. Ryan has also been found working with various high school percussion groups in the Lynchburg, VA area. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religion from Liberty University and is currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at the Liberty University School of Law.

Guy Mavinga

Guy Mavinga is 20 years old and lives in Lynchburg, VA. As a junior in high school, Guy Mavinga decided to start his marching career at Heritage High School, where he played snare drum for two years and was the drumline captain for two years. Since graduating in 2011, Guy has been the percussion instructor for the marching band at Heritage High School. While in high school, Guy was a member of the Lynchburg College percussion ensemble during the fall semester of 2010.

 

Guy then went on to continue his marching career with Liberty University, where he marched two years with the marching band, and two years on quads with the Liberty University Indoor Drumline where is now the quad instructor. During the summer of 2013, Guy Mavinga was a member of the snareline at the Cadets2 drum and bugle corps, and will also be marching in the snareline of Spirit of Atlanta during the summer of 2014. In his free time, Guy enjoys composing for battery ensembles and transcribing music.

 

Kyle Veres

Kyle Veres is 23 years old and was born and raised in Lynchburg, VA. Kyle began playing percussion at the age of 11, and started his marching career at Jefferson Forest High School. After an outdoor season as a member of the front ensemble and an indoor season playing bass drum, Kyle went on to play snare drum for all 4 years of high school, capping off his marching career with a gold medal at AIA Championships in 2009.

 

After high school, Kyle attended Virginia Tech, graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and now works full-time as an engineer. During his time at VT, Kyle played snare drum for 4 years with the Marching Virginians, and also marched snare drum with the Liberty University Indoor Drumline during his senior year at VT in 2013. As an LUID staff member, Kyle's primary role is a snare tech, along with Ryan Jones. However, Kyle has also worked as part of the performance design group and helps with the visual aspects of the show.

Josh Detwiler

Josh Detwiler is 22 years old and has been playing percussion since fall 2006. A Music Education major at Liberty University, Josh has performance experience with jazz band, pep band, marching band, indoor drumline, wind ensemble, orchestra, symphonic band, percussion ensemble, worship bands, and heavy metal bands, and has performed 8 years and 9 seasons on Quads, as well as marching bass drum and front ensemble in indoor drumline.

 

Josh has been the Quad section leader of the Liberty University Marching Band for 3 years, and the front ensemble center marimba/instructor for his age out year in indoor drumline. Josh has also been playing drumset since 2006 and is an accomplished session drummer as well as being in several local bands and worship groups. He likes long walks on the beach and thumb wrestling famous people.
